3D Milling Quick Start

Opening RTM

1. Import a model or load an existing RTM file.


2. Choose Import and select your file. Supported formats depend on your translator license (e.g., IGES).
3. Use sample file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lemoine Technologies\Rtm Version 7\Translator Sample Files\Merc_surf_model.igs
Once import begins, you’ll see a balloon in the lower-left corner.


Displaying the Model

After import, open Task Manager and select the Result icon.

Click Go to view the model.


Now your model should be displayed on the screen.


Model attributes will be shown including: - Dimensions (absolute and relative) - Material - Circles Detected

Graphically Rotating the Model

To rotate the model using the Mouse and your keyboard use these combinations.
Ctrl + Left Click – Rotate
Ctrl + Right Click – Pan
Mouse Wheel – Zoom
Alt + F1 – Reset view
F1 – Zoom window (drag area)
F2 – Zoom out incrementally

Creating a Setup for 3D Milling

1. Open the 3D Milling Manager.

2. Confirm the correct machine is selected (lower-left corner).

3. Click Setup > Create Setup.

4. Select table face and set orientation.

5. Click Select to define origin (X0, Y0, Z0). Right-click to confirm.

6. Select OK when finished.
Creating a 3D Program 1. Right-click Mill Files in the tree. Select Mill > Rough > Z-Cut Solid.

2. Enter tool info, cutting limits, depth of pass, and other parameters.

3. Click OK all the necessary fields are completed..
Creating a Stock Model
If prompted, click Yes to create a stock model.

Adjust X, Y, Z dimensions manually or accept defaults. Click OK to finalize.

Click OK to finalize.
Your Stock Model should look like this.

Once the Z-Cut Solid is completed it will display on the screen on top of the Stock Model.

Posting a File
1. Right-click the finished file in the tree and select Post.

2. Choose correct post processor and Organize operation order in the Post Processor screen. Once everything is correct select OK.

3. If ATC is enabled, assign tools to pockets if required.

4. Choose output location and click OK.

Your posted file will now appear in your work folder.
